Copy and paste documents

M-Client works with the Mac clipboard, like Finder. Copy documents out of the vault into any app, and paste files or pictures into the vault.

Copy documents

  1. Select one or more documents, or files inside a multi-file document.
  2. Press ⌘C, or right-click and choose Copy.
  3. Paste into Finder, Mail or any other app.

Each document arrives as its file. A multi-file document copied on its own arrives as a folder with its files.

M-Client downloads the files when you copy them. For big files, wait for the Copied notice before you paste.

Paste into the vault

Go to the view or folder you want, then press ⌘V, or right-click an empty part of the listing and choose Paste.

  • Files you copied in Finder or another app: a metadata card opens for each file. With several files, you get the same choices as when you drop files on the listing: Skip this, Create, Create all and Create one multi-file document from all. See Drag and drop files into a vault.
  • A picture, such as a screenshot copied to the clipboard: M-Client adds it as Pasted image.png and opens its metadata card.

Copy and paste is not available in M-Files Web.
