System requirements
M-Client runs on your Mac and talks to your M-Files server the same way M-Files Web does. Before you install it, check these three things.
Your Mac
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
- A network connection to your M-Files server over HTTPS.
- An internet connection to www.m-client.com at least once every 72 hours, for the license check.
Your M-Files server
- M-Files Web must be enabled on the server. M-Client uses the same interfaces as M-Files Web, including the settings, pins and search history M-Files Web keeps for each user.
- A test is simple: if you can sign in to your vault with M-Files Web in a browser, M-Client can connect to it too.
Your M-Files account
You sign in with the same M-Files user, or Windows (domain) user, that you use for M-Files Web. M-Client never changes what you are allowed to see or do: your vault's permissions, workflows and metadata card rules apply exactly as they do on the web.
M-Client is licensed per user and per Mac. You also need M-Files licenses for your users, as you do for M-Files Web or the Windows desktop client.
