M-Client checks its license each time it starts. When www.m-client.com cannot be reached, it keeps working for up to 72 hours after the last successful check.

  • Connect to the internet at least once every three days and start M-Client to renew the grace period.
  • The grace period does not extend a license past its end date.
  • If your Mac's clock is set before the last successful check, the grace period does not apply.

Your vault itself does not need the internet: if your M-Files server is on your company network, M-Client only needs that network plus the short license check.
